NAD+, an essential coenzyme for our body, decreases with age.

Among the vitamin B3 group, it can be supplemented by taking NMN and NR.

I've struggled with vague answers to various inquiries about NMN's NAD boosting effects, such as, " NMN is closest to NAD+ in the biosynthetic pathway that creates NAD+, so conversion is rapid." It's truly amazing, a truly powerful ingredient! How can I explain NMN's benefits in a simple way?

So, I decided to write a piece about why Rocket America's NMN and NR are superior to other B3 vitamins. I'm talking about the impressive anti-aging benefits of NAD boosters.


I know that both NMN and NR are part of the vitamin B3 group. What is the difference?

In the same study as the previous one, the ratio of subjects who took the vitamin B complex (placebo/NMN) was 4/1. Of the four subjects in the placebo group who took the vitamin B complex, only one in the NMN group took the vitamin B complex.

However, the group that took NMN showed an increase in NAD+ levels, and the reason is that, unlike other vitamin B complex supplements, NMN is the precursor to NAD+.

Niacin (also known as nicotinic acid) and nicotinamide (NAM, also known as niacinamide) are different forms of vitamin B3. However, experts do not recommend taking nicotinamide (NAM) to increase NAD+ levels.

First, it's an early step in the conversion of NAM to NAD+. Rather than first converting NAM to NMN and then generating NAD+ in the NAM → NMN → NAD+ sequence, it's much more efficient to take NMN, a direct precursor to NAD+. Second, NAM can inhibit sirtuins, important enzymes that help protect DNA and the epigenome. To "activate" sirtuins, NAD+ is converted to NAM, but too much NAM can interfere with the conversion of NAD+ to NAM, preventing sirtuins from functioning properly.

Niacin is also a less ideal way to increase NAD+ levels. Compared to NMN, niacin is an earlier step in the NAD+ production pathway and is involved in many other pathways, so it may cause more side effects. For example, niacin supplements have been associated with side effects such as flushing (physical discomfort) and increased blood sugar levels, which may increase the risk of type 2 diabetes in the long term.

Meanwhile, NR, another vitamin B3, is not the immediate precursor to NAD+, but it has a simpler structure than nicotinamide (NAM) or niacin, making it much more efficient at producing NAD+.

“I am so confident that the drug containing NMN is safe that I am injecting it into my body to see how it reacts,” said Dr. David Sinclair, a professor of genetics at Harvard University. “Tests have shown that my biological age has decreased by 24 years.”


In conclusion, NAD+, which is an essential coenzyme for our body, decreases with age.

It can be supplemented by taking NMN and NR from the vitamin B3 group .
