This time, we will introduce the latest paper on NMN and oocytes .

• NMN

NMN (Nicotinamide mononucleotide) is a representative anti-aging substance mentioned in the book ' The End of Aging ' written by a Harvard doctor on the end of aging , and is an NAD+ precursor essential for cellular energy activation , DNA repair , and immune improvement .

Although oocytes have their own DNA damage repair mechanism , DNA damage has been increasing recently due to various causes such as obesity . However, since the more DNA damage there is, the higher the possibility of genetic defects and developmental abnormalities in offspring , this study used NMN as a method to reduce DNA damage in oocytes and measured the improvement in oocyte quality with nmn .

According to this paper , in obese female mice fed NMN , improvements in oocyte quality were found in two indicators .

As mentioned above, ND stands for healthy diet , HRD stands for high-fat diet , and HRD stands for high-fat diet + NMN .

First , the reduction of yH2AX .

yH2AX is an indicator of DNA damage in oocytes . It is an indicator of oocyte quality, and the higher the fluorescence intensity (AU) ( green fluorescence intensity ) , the higher the degree of damage to the oocyte . In the study, mice on a HFD high-fat diet had more than twice as much damage to oocytes as mice on an ND normal diet . However, after NMN intake , it was found that DNA damage in mice on a HFD high-fat diet was reduced by almost half .

Second , there is an increase in actin protein filaments .

Actin protein filaments are substances that form the cytoskeleton . This is another indicator of oocyte quality , and the higher the fluorescence intensity (AU) ( red fluorescence intensity ) , the more abundant the actin filaments . Mice fed NMN on the HRD high-fat diet had higher actin filaments than mice on the ND normal diet and mice on the HRD high-fat diet .

Thus, NMN showed improvement in key indicators of oocyte quality, such as yH2AX and actin protein filament .
