NMN Latest Paper (2) Vascular Health

hello .

This time, we will introduce the latest paper on NMN and vascular health .

  • NMN

NMN (Nicotinamide mononucleotide) began to receive attention as a representative anti-aging substance after being mentioned by David A. Sinclair , a pioneer in aging research at Harvard University .

When you take NMN, it is converted into NAD+ , an essential coenzyme in your body, which improves symptoms that can occur as you age .

For example, the level of aging proteins increases rapidly at the ages of 34 , 60 , and 78 , and NAD+ helps maintain healthy youth by lowering this level .

Since papers on the efficacy of NMN, which is converted into NAD+ in the body, continue to be published, I would like to introduce papers related to vascular health among them .

  • NMN and vascular health

This study, conducted by Takeshi Katayoshi and his team at DHC , a Japanese skincare company, is the result of a clinical trial on the effects of NMN on the human body, particularly on vascular health.

Before we go on, let’s briefly explain about blood vessels ,” which are organs of our body .

Blood vessels are the passageways that circulate blood between the heart and each organ and tissue of the body, and include arteries , capillaries , and veins . When blood flows through a blood vessel , a force is generated that pushes the inner walls of the blood vessel outward, and the response varies depending on the elasticity of the blood vessel .

For example, blood vessels with high elasticity can respond to these forces, regulating blood flow and effectively managing blood pressure . This means that the blood vessels have low stiffness .

However , blood vessels with low elasticity have a low ability to respond to these forces, making it difficult to regulate blood flow and blood pressure . This means that the blood vessels have a high degree of stiffness .

In particular, as we age, the elasticity of blood vessels decreases , the stiffness of blood vessels increases, and blood vessel health deteriorates, so we must be careful of cardiovascular diseases that may result from this .

This study measured blood vessel stiffness in healthy adults aged 40 to 59 years who took NMN for 12 weeks to investigate the effects of NMN on blood vessel health . The researchers measured blood vessel stiffness by measuring how fast blood moved through the arteries near the ankles .

As mentioned above, baPWV pulse wave velocity , the higher the vascular stiffness, the faster the pulse wave velocity , and the lower the vascular stiffness, the slower the pulse wave velocity .

Unlike placebo recipients, NMN recipients had slower pulse wave velocity and lower vascular stiffness on the left and right ankles, indicating a positive effect on vascular health .

Additionally, the researchers determined that high blood pressure , obesity , and high blood sugar levels are risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and measured baPWV by classifying clinical participants according to blood pressure , body mass index ( BMI), and blood sugar levels. As a result , those with above-average BMI (c) and blood sugar levels (d) showed a significant decrease in blood flow velocity and improvement in vascular health .

Takeshi Katayoshi and his team calculated the age of organs and tissues using various indicators, such as vascular stiffness, and estimated that NMN made the blood vessels of middle-aged adults about two years younger.

As such, NMN has shown various positive effects throughout the body in preclinical areas.

We will continue to introduce the latest papers on the efficacy of NMN .
