A synergistic combination of phytochemicals curcumin, resveratrol, and quercetin
hello .
Last time, we looked at the effects of phytochemicals and three representative phytochemical ingredients: resveratrol , curcumin , and quercetin .
To better understand the content of this time, we recommend reading ' Phytochemicals and 3 Representative Phytochemical Ingredients ' .

In this session, we will look at the effects of the synergistic combination of phytochemicals : curcumin , resveratrol , and quercetin .
To find “ Phytochemicals : Synergistic combinations of curcumin , resveratrol , and quercetin ,” I grouped them by finding commonalities based on research papers , and wrote this by referring to recommended combinations on various medical YouTube channels .

Curcumin + Resveratrol

anti-inflammatory action
According to the paper , curcumin and resveratrol are effective in anti-inflammation by blocking the activation of various inflammatory cells .
Curcumin reduces inflammatory factors such as NF-kB, COX2, LOX IL-1β, and IL-6, which affect various inflammatory diseases .
Resveratrol, like curcumin, reduces inflammatory factors such as NF-kB, IL-1β, and IL-6 , and also inhibits STAT1 and STAT3, showing a prominent anti-inflammatory effect .
Activate brain function
According to the paper , our brains have a relatively deficient antioxidant system, making them susceptible to oxidative imbalance and damage .
However, when curcumin is consumed, it activates HO-1 ( haem oxygenase -1) , an antioxidant enzyme known to increase the brain's tolerance to stress .
Resveratrol, like curcumin, enhances HO-1 and is also known to reduce the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS ) that contribute to cognitive deficits within cells .

Curcumin + Quercetin

anticancer effect
To investigate the natural anticancer properties of curcumin and quercetin, researchers compared their efficacy in four cancer cell lines: A549, HCT116, MCF7 , and A375, and examined their anticancer effects through apoptosis and the Wnt/β- catenin signaling pathway .
In particular, when curcumin and quercetin were used together in A375 , the anticancer effects of curcumin and quercetin were proven by finding that they induced cancer cell death by downregulating DVL2, β- catenin , cyclin D1, Cox2, Axin2, and BCL2, which are all Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway proteins .
Diet effect
The dietary effects of curcumin and quercetin have been found to have similarities in different papers .
In the case of curcumin , a randomized , double-blind , placebo - controlled crossover trial of curcumin (1 g/day) on experimental participants (n=30) found a notable decrease in blood triglyceride concentration .
For quercetin , it has been demonstrated to induce lipolysis in primary rat adipocytes in a dose- and time-dependent manner by increasing cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) activity .

Resveratrol + Quercetin

Antioxidant action , heart and cardiovascular protection
The effects of taking resveratrol and quercetin together were summarized through various medical YouTube contents.
In particular, the Korean American Pharmacist YouTube channel noted that taking resveratrol and quercetin together inhibits red blood cell oxidation, enhancing antioxidant effects . They also emphasized the synergistic combination of polyphenol phytochemicals, which prevent cardiovascular stenosis and reduce the risk of myocardial arrest .
According to research papers and various medical contents, curcumin, resveratrol, and quercetin are all polyphenol phytochemicals that are effective in various antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and obesity-related effects, so when taken together, a comprehensive synergistic effect can be expected.
